GIF Speed FAQ

How does changing speed work?

Each GIF frame has a delay value (in centiseconds). Speeding up divides all delays by the multiplier; slowing down multiplies them. The visual content of each frame is unchanged.

Does changing speed affect file size?

No — only the timing metadata changes. The file size stays exactly the same.

What is the maximum speed change?

This tool supports 0.25× (quarter speed) to 4× (four times speed). Most browsers will cap very fast GIFs at around 50 FPS regardless.

Can I make a GIF loop at a specific FPS?

Yes — use the slider to find the right multiplier, or use Trim GIF to reduce frame count before adjusting speed.
